Iohseri:io Curotte
Hi! My name is Iohseri:io Curotte and I am from Kahnawake which is a little community near Montreal. We don't have a big shopping mall but we have fun. I'll tell you, you cannot get lost here! It might take a while to get back where you started but you'll find it. One think that I like about this town is we don't have street signs but we have certain names for certain parts of town. For example, one place is called Sesame Street because at one time there were a lot of families with young children on that street.
We have five schools, four elementary schools and a high school, three of the elementary are full Kanie'keha and the last one is English. I have always gone to school in town, but after this I have to go outside because we don't have a college.
I have been playing hockey for about thirteen years and I really enjoy playing. It keeps me busy, active, and out of trouble. When I am not playing hockey I like to hang out with my friends. My favorite thing to do is listen to country music; you know I am the only kid in my family who actually likes country because they like to listen to that loud noisy stuff. My favorite singers are ones like George Jones, George Strait, Alan Jackson, and Kenny Chesney. I find that the new singers aren't really country, but rather more like rock 'n roll, I don't think that country is what it used to be. It's a little sad.
Well, I am in high school and I am just about finish it, too. You know when I was in elementary I never thought that I would ever make it this far. Now when I look back I am shocked as to how far I have come. You know something that I just realized? When you are in grade seven you never want to come to school but when you get into grade eleven you don't really want to leave because you have gotten comfortable, and Survival school is sort of like our own little family.
Well as a career I plan on either being a draftsman or a Kanie'keha teacher or a gym teacher at Kahronianonnha one of our elementary schools.
